The first eight tabs of the 'Family Tree' drop-down
menu are for each of my grandparents and each
of Lizzie's grandparents. They have sub-menu's
for each of their parents.
Each menu tab links to a page listing chronological
source material from that ancestral branch of
the family. They are jpg's for photographs and
pdf's for documents.
The photo's are scanned in 256 greyscale at hi-res
and the documents are mostly scanned at a resolution
of 300dpi in 1 bit.

The Software I use
I started using Family Origins 4 software in 1998
and have upgraded to Roots Magic http://www.rootsmagic.com
(I occaionally also use Family Tree Maker to make
I transcribe all the info I get from certificates,
census, wills, newspaper clippings etc into the
notes section of Roots Magic.
When Roots Magic is installed on your computer
it creates a number of files, when you enter info
to the program it stores the data in differant
places. A gedcom file on the other hand is a single
text file, which has all the info you have submitted
within it. You can look at it and see everything
